Black Bull Turbo Yeast and Cider Apples
Black Bull Turbo Yeast was specifically developed to handle high alcohol fermentations with minimal by-products and be ready for bottling within five to six days, all while remaining highly temperature tolerant and fermenting up to 18% ABV with ease. Ideal for use with fruit or starchy ingredients like grains, potatoes or rice which contain pectin or starch which must be broken down so as to produce smooth results.
Your choice of yeast will have an enormous effect on the end product: cider. A yeast with a higher tolerance to alcohol will live longer while turning sugars into ethanol and producing higher ABV levels in your cider. In addition, choosing one with high phenol content will add extra flavor.
Yeast plays an essential role in shaping the aromas produced during fermentation. Baker’s yeast often produces esters as well as alcohol, which can have an effect on your cider’s aroma. Conversely, lower tolerance yeast will die off before its alcohol content becomes too high and won’t produce as many esters and aromas in your finished cider product.
