BB Turbo Yeast and Winter Seasonal Ales
Winter seasonal ales are strong, dark beers brewed specifically to be festive for Christmas or winter holidays, typically using ingredients reminiscent of holiday food and drink like allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger etc. Additionally these seasonal beers may feature specialty sugars or adjuncts, creating richer and stronger beers than other styles and often come with higher alcohol contents as well.
Turbo yeast has been genetically engineered to ferment faster than other strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae by adding an optimally composed nutrient blend that accelerates fermentation rates and leads to high alcohol production rates.
Turbo yeast differs significantly from natural strains found in nature, which require five to seven days for primary fermentation and an additional week of secondary fermentation, in that it can produce beer in 24 hours – however this rapidity comes at a price: it isn’t as versatile as natural yeasts and you must read all requirements on its package for it to function effectively.
An ideal option for creating high quality alcohol wash in a short amount of time, this process works particularly well when creating sloe whiskey (make a sugar wash using soaked sloes, rack, add gin and charcoal). Also great for fruit brandies, grappas and cider production.
